MEMORIALS
"IN LOVING MEMORY"

Birthday: November 6, 1984
Angelday: November 5, 2000
Song:You Are Always On My Mind

Dear Sam
The moment you left us,
Our hearts split into,
The one side filled with memories,
The other died with you.
We often lay awake at night,
When the world is fast asleep,
And take a walk down memory lane,
With tears upon our cheeks.
Remembering is easy,
We do it every day,
But missing you is a heartache,
That never goes away.
We hold you tightly within our hearts,
And there you will remain.
Life has gone on without you,
But it will never be the same.
For those who still have their child,
Treat them with tender care.
You will never know the emptiness,
As when you turn and they are not there.

"Our Daughter's Monument"
It has her picture etched into the stone. Along beside it is her signature. And then it reads:
Samantha Joy Sullivan
When you were born November 6, 1984
You cried and the world smiled
You lived your life so that when you died
November 5, 2000 The world cried and you smiled
Sam's favorite crown is etched in the stone
Below it reads:
Sammy Jo she's God's Beauty Queen now

On the foot stone there is another picture
of her and another one of her nicknames
"SamBo"To know her was to love her
A million times we've needed you
A million times we've cried,
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still,
For in our hearts you hold a place
No one else can fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For a part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

Our Daughter's 1st Roadside Memorial
It was ran over by someone and broken to peices

Our Daughter's 2ndRoadsideMemorial
This picture will be featured in the book
"Crosses Across Our Nations"

If tears could build a stairway
And memories a lane,
I would walk right up to Heaven
To bring you home again.
No farewell words was spoken,
No time to say goodby,
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knows why.
My heart still aches in saddness,
And secret tears still flow,
What it means to lose you,
No one will ever know.
(Auther unknown)

This sign was set up in the middle of our little town. In loving memory of our daughter by a wonderful man.It was a place for her family and friends to go sit and remember her.
Samantha's classmates wanted to use their class money on a fountain in memory of her to be placed in front of this building. It didn't work out so instead a gold plaque was placed in the corner of each side of the sign in front of the building. It reads: In Loving Memory of Samantha Joy Sullivan ( Sam ) November 6, 1984 - November 5, 2000

I bought this arch and hung an Angel in the middle along with Sam's sign from the memorial up town. My hope that someday I would have a memorial garden for Sammy Jo.

Dedicated In Loving Memory Of Samantha

Every year in April, our town has a festival "The Bethune Chicken Strut."The festval committee(a non profit organization) has set up a scholarship award in loving memory of our daughter. This award was set up by the committee to be awarded during the local festival pageant. Samantha,or Sam as she was known to those that knew her and loved her,was the reigning 2000 Junior Miss Chicken Strut Queen. The scholarship honors her memory by awarding the essay winner of the pageant a $500.00 scholarship/bond to assist in college education. The essays are based on what being crowned the new Miss Chicken Strut Queen means to them. The scholarship is only awarded in the eldest age division to pin point contestants going to or currently enrolled in college. As the festival grows,so will the scholarship award.
UPDATE
2007, Samantha's Scholarship is now being offered to ages 13 and up.
2008, Samantha's Scholarship was raised to $600.00

When you lose a parent, you lose your past.
When you lose a spouse, you lose your present.
When you lose a child, you lose your future.
A child that looses a parent is an orphan.
A man who looses his wife is a widower.
A woman who looses her husband is a widow.
There is no name for a parent that looses a child.
For there is no word to discribe this pain!
